Charlize Theron’s “Sort Of” Gladiator Sandals

Tuesday, June 29th, 2010

So Charlize Theron went to get her nails done wearing these heels:

Oh and she also wore them after working on her fitness at a Beverly Hills gym:

Other “regular” celebs think it’s fine to be caught by the paparazzi coming out of a nail spa in flip flops or the gym in their gym clothes, but not Charlize Theron. She’s way too classy for that and I think she’d drop dead first before we ever see this blond bombshell be anything but a bombshell in her candid pictures.

Of course, I went looking for Charlize’s shoes and these are what came up:

Err, I thought they’d be more “gladiator-y”. They certainly looked a lot more like gladiator sandals in Charlize’s candids. They resemble 18th century button boots more in this product image, and if it weren’t for the t-strap, I don’t think I’d call these gladiators at all.

Anyway, Charlize Theron’s “sort of” gladiator sandals (or gladiator sandals at first sight?) are the Sigerson Morrison 9880 Twisted Strap Heels. Zappos.com carries the rosewood leather color of these shoes:

Now they look even less like gladiators without the black color and the wooden stacked heel.

Would you classify Charlize Theron’s strappy black heels as gladiators?

The Sigerson Morrison 9880 Twisted Strap Heels are $654.00 at Zappos.com.

Top 5 Picks for Gladiator Sandals with Shields

Sunday, April 4th, 2010

Now here’s a gladiator sandal trend that’ll really gear us up for the battlefield: gladiators with shields.

Of course the “shields” are really extra wide or extra long leather panels that cover the foot, but it just goes so much better with the whole warrior theme that gladiators have got going on, doesn’t it? And besides, if you want to be the best-looking fashion warrior out there, you’ve got to be completely armored from head to sword to shield.

Here are the AllGladiatorSandals’ top 5 picks for the most “fightingest” gladiators:

1. Calvin Klein Stasia

These Calvin Klein Stasias are a staggering 4 inches high, but the platform sole and the wedge heel make them a breeze to walk in. $93.00 down from $135.00.

2. BCBGeneration Uma

Yes, we’ve seen this style on a lot of other gladiator sandals before, but these BCBGeneration Umas have got one of the widest leather panels out there. Plus they sparkle and shine too. Now only $63.16, originally $78.95.

3. Robert Clergerie Sindian

I am loving the mirrored silver leather color on these sandals and the way the straps are sewn on top of each other so they resemble actual armor. Robert Clergerie Sindian, $665.00 marked down to $320.00.

4. Vera Wang Lavender Label Heidi Shield Platform Sandals

Vera Wang really named these gladiator sandals under her Lavender Label the Heidi Shield Platform Sandal. Click on the link or the picture above to check out the interesting distress treatment done to the stacked heel. $295.00, also available in “Nakid” (obviously a nude color).

5. Report Signature Randolph Pebbled Leather Platform Sandal

Seen on the feet of young Hollywood trendsetter Vanessa Hudgens, these Report Signature Randolph Paneled Platform Sandals are surprisingly affordable. These lovelies are available for purchase for just $185.00.

Kim Kardashian’s Christian Louboutin Lace-Up Platform Booties in Miami

Sunday, March 21st, 2010

Tim Gunn can lambast Kim Kardashian’s fashion all he wants, but the huge amount of media hype and the massive public attention surrounding Kim is undeniable. Just check out these pictures of the reality TV star in Miami, Florida last March 19:

Do you see all those people behind her? And those are just the curious people passing by. Imagine what the paparazzi on the other side of the camera that took this picture looks like.

Here’s another shot from that day that shows just how crazy people are about her:

Okay, even with all the attention I gotta admit I’m with Tim Gunn when it comes to some of Kim’s outfits. This is one of them. I think one-piece rompers should be worn exclusively by babies and should not be touched with a ten-foot pole by 30-year olds. The belt Kim is wearing over the romper is serving absolutely no purpose other than to hang on to her waist and the hair, though luscious, is too much for such a casual outfit.

Her lace up gladiator sandals on the other hand, are a totally different matter. They are gorgeous:

From the red soles alone, you know they’re Louboutins.

These Christian Louboutin Platform Lace-Up Booties with tassel ends are originally priced at $1,195.00. They’re already marked down to $537.00 at the Neiman Marcus website but unfortunately, they’re not available anymore.

Here are two similar alternatives from Chinese Laundry and Type Z, at even lower prices than the already marked down Louboutins:

Type Z Lavey Sandal, $69.00

Chinese Laundry Lucky Strike, $80.00

Do you like Kim Kardashian’s style?
