Iron Mom Gwyneth Paltrow to Ellen DeGeneres: “I Want More Kids!”

Wednesday, April 28th, 2010

I don’t know how Gwyneth Paltrow does it. She just wrapped up filming her latest blockbuster hit “Iron Man”, she’s now globetrotting to promote the movie, she has to attend all the premieres, the interviews, and other publicity events, and she has to look good while doing all of it! And that’s all on top of being a hands-on mom to her two children, 4-year-old son Moses and 6-year-old daughter Apple. Whew.

Actually, I think I do know how she does it: she’s a famous, highly paid celebrity so I guess Gwyneth can hire armies of nannies to take care of her and her kids if she wants to (and probably does).

But anyway, I still think Gwyneth looks amazing and despite the harsh criticisms she gets for her lifestyle choices, it can’t be denied that she’s worked hard for everything she has. And since mother’s day is just ’round the corner, I think an “Iron Mom” like Gwyneth is a good choice for a gladiator-sandal-wearing celebrity feature right now.

Here’s one of Gwyneth’s most recent appearances (or will be – this episode of “The Ellen DeGeneres Show” won’t air until May 6), a guesting on Ellen DeGeneres’ talk show:

Gwyneth talked about her kids and wanting even more kids even after all the tantrums and ear-splitting screams. After confiding that to Ellen, Gwyneth got a big surprise when they gifted her with a pair of pimped out kiddie cars personalized for each of her two children.

Those are pretty sweet looking cars, but I don’t know if I can say the same for Gwyneth’s entire outfit:

Gwyneth’s legs look amazing and all, but I find that length too short for a dress with a skirt that flares out. The dress could stand to be a little bit longer. As for her shoes, well, Gwyneth is always spot on when it comes to footwear:

I love that Gwyneth chose one color from her printed dress as the color of her shoes. Other celebs would pair this with safe but boring nude heels or even worse, black.

That pretty plum shade is quite a rare color on gladiators. But as always, I managed to find a few pairs that are at least similar to the style and color of Gwyneth’s heels. Here are the 3 that I found:

Restricted Whip It Heel, $62.99

These aren’t gladiators anymore, but they have the lace-up and peep toe details: Steve Madden Tribbe, $49.45

Now these are just plain ankle boots but we’re looking at the laces and the nice magenta color here!: MISS SIXTY Women’s Joss, $128.99

Aside from your own mom, who would you call an “Iron Mom”?

Carrie Underwood: Glitzy Glamorous at the Clive Davis 2010 Grammy Awards After-Party

Thursday, February 4th, 2010

One celebrity I would like the press to pay a little more attention to would be Carrie Underwood. For some reason, this southern belle has managed to become one of the best dressed celebrities on the  red carpet. There is a quiet elegance about her which I am beginning to like, and she definitely has good taste when it comes to fashion.

She was seen joining the (2010) Grammy Awards after party (thrown by Clive Davis) wearing a really show-stopping short silver dress that had a lot going on to it.

She paired the outfit with an unusual set of silver gladiator sandals that had curved straps at the center instead of the usual T, and diagonal straps on the sides instead of the usual horizontal. The outfit was quite busy up close, but for some reason, it didn’t look overdone, nor did it look like she was trying too hard. In fact, she looked quite stunning in the whole attire.

All I can say is this girl definitely knows what style means.

Now going back to the sandal, this one is an interesting pair because it is different. The T-strap isn’t present in the shoe; in place are two curved straps that form circles at the center. The whole effect is definitely much sexier than wearing the usual gladiator sandals.

I found some good look-a-like options you might want to consider if you’re planning to buy a similar pair:

L.A.M.B Zen Sandal, US$301

Steve Madden Hitower, U$S109

MISS SIXTY Indigo Sandal, US$165
