We gave you some of the best gilded strappy sandals from Farfetch in a dazzling post some time ago. And we’re obviously not quite over that as we continue to indulge our obsession with this metallic trend.
Mion, $925, Rupert Sanderson
Rupert Sanderson’s Mion is a sandal worthy of a solo feature mainly for its ability to give opulence without being over the top. It combines Baroque-style cutouts with– surprise, surprise– gold leather straps and yet it is not so Louis XIV that you’ll feel like you’re in a Halloween costume. It is– and correct me if there is no such thing– extremely tasteful.

This is great news for a lot of women, including myself, who declare their love for metallics with a bit of hesitance. Because while we can afford to buy gold tone sandals, we also want to make sure that they’re practical, i.e. versatile for every other outfit we have. At the very least.

Fortunately, the Mion projects this versatility. While it is gold, it is not too yellow to be, well, yellow. While it is strappy, there are no buckles giving it a slight impression of a bootie. And its high heels and Baroque style shows that it can do formal events as well.

This can do tights, silk chiffon gowns, jeans, even those mini dresses for clubbing. The list is endless which is good, considering the Mion is not a mid-range priced sandal. But if we were to invest in just one golden pair this season, then we’ll pan for this one.
