The shoes we’re featuring today nearly could NOT be considered as gladiators but because of the open toe design, were able to pass for the Roman-inspired footwear we love so much.
Here are the shoes, the almost-not-gladiators Lisa for Donald J Pliner Ghalib Open Toe Boots:

If you think of these shoes as boots foremost, they’d be completely impractical. Freezing bare toes is never a good look and the comfortable yet flimsy crepe sole is more suited for summer shoe styles than on a pair of mid-calf boots.
But if you think of them as sandals, then these shoes would make more sense. They’re really more of an innovative take on the sandal bootie and the light milk color suggests that these should be worn during the warmer days of spring and summer.
The design of these Lisa for Donald J Pliner Ghalib Open Toe Boots requires an open-minded approach. However, I really can’t do anything about how much it resembles a leg cast:

Sorry Lisa for Donald J Pliner shoes. As much as I try to understand your cutting-edge design, I can’t get this photoshopped picture of Alicia Silverstone wearing a leg cast out of my head.
Still, it’s a pretty cool design. Definitely NOT for cold weather though. You can get the Lisa for Donald J Pliner Ghalib Open Toe Boots for $275.00 and other shoes from the newest Lisa for Donald J Pliner Fall 2010 collection at Amazon.
