The One-of-a-Kind Giuseppe Zanotti Strass Suede Caged Sandals: Worth It or Overpriced?
January 4th, 2010 by RoselleSo here’s the thing, I came across Giuseppe Zanotti’s colorful Strass Suede Caged Sandals while browsing Shopbop.com. As all of you may know, caged sandals belong to the gladiator group, although they are relatively strappier in nature.
The Giuseppe Zanotti Strass Suede Caged Sandals, US$1595
I was easily attracted to these caged sandals because of its retro-centric color palette. It simply looks one-of-kind and exquisite, definitely like no other.
With the increasing number of women wearing the gladiator shoes, looking like everyone else has become unavoidable. However, if you wear the Giuseppe Zanotti Strass Suede Caged Sandals, you will definitely stand out. The colorful hand-applied Swarovski crystals and beads look striking and stunning against the Brasile (yellow) suede leather base. Overall, the shoes look beautiful.

And just like Zanotti’s other shoes and accessories, this one is also made in Italy, carefully crafted and well-made to ensure the most premium in quality. Somewhat eclectic in color, but bright and colorful are perfect for spring and summer anyway so this will fit into your closet easily.
I guess the most disappointing part is that it is priced higher than most of Zanotti’s sandals. It costs a whopping US$1600, close to the price range of his Balmain shoe collection (US$1600-US$2500).
Ok, I understand that part of the reason why it is expensive is because it is hand-made, and the materials are expensive and premium. However, I did not expect the price to be this high.
Because of the price tag, looking for a pair similar in style was my next option. But after doing several searches, I found nothing (if any of you can find one, please let know!).
So then comes the question, is the Giuseppe Zanotti Strass Suede Caged Sandal worth it? Or do you think it’s overpriced? If you had the exact amount (US$1600) in your pocket, would you spend it to buy this pair? Or would you rather use the US$1600 to buy not just one, but perhaps 8 or more pairs of shoes (if the average price is US$200 per pair)?
What’s your opinion? I would love to know your take on these beautiful shoes!
